Twitter may start ‘Notes’ feature with long-form text

Twitter Inc  said on Wednesday that it was beta-testing “Notes,” a new tool that would let users submit links to essays both within and outside of the social media network.

Along with the “Notes” function, Twitter Write will now include newsletter startup Revue, which the company purchased last year.

A limited number of authors are testing the long-form feature, and Twitter does not provide any other information on its larger roll-out. Currently, the firm limits tweets to 280 characters, a feature it started experimenting with over five years ago.

Users were shocked when Twitter announced in April that it will soon start testing a new edit option, which it referred to as “the most requested feature for many years.”

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc. and the richest man in the world, is now purchasing the firm for $44 billion.
