Thor Love and Thunder: Film earns ₹30 cr in India, $100m globally

Thor: Love and Thunder, the newest high-profile adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is making money at the box office. The movie opened on Thursday in India and has already raked in 30 crore at home theaters. The Chris Hemsworth-starring film debuted early in some other nations while opening on Friday in North America. The worldwide gross has now surpassed $100 million despite the staggered distribution.

Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as the God of Thunder in Taika Waititi’s fourth solo Marvel Cinematic Universe picture, Thor: Love and Thunder, which also stars Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, and Christian Bale as Gorr, the villain. The majority of the reviews for the movie have been favorable.

The film’s two-day revenues are strong at $30 crore nett, according to a BoxOfficeIndia.com report. The report did note that the decrease on the second day was exceptionally large and that a course correction will be required during the course of the remaining long weekend. Thor: Love and Thunder brought in 11.50 crore nett on day two, a significant decrease from the first. According to the report, “A 25–30% drop was anticipated on the expected lines, but the drop is now 35–35% plus because all circuits declined for the movie.

Additionally, according to a report in Deadline, the movie made $48.6 million in its first two days of release worldwide. This includes the roughly $4 million in India statistics. The figure places it below Marvel’s other huge blockbuster this year, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, but ahead of other recent hits like Top Gun: Maverick and Jurassic World: Dominion.

According to a different Deadline source, the movie made about $70 million on Friday in North America, including $29 million from Thursday’s paid previews. The movie’s overall global revenue now stands at roughly $120 million. This is expected to surpass $250 million during the weekend, according to trade analysts.

Natalie Portman returns to the franchise and makes her first appearance as a superhero in Thor: Love and Thunder, which is a part of the fourth phase of the MCU. The Guardians of the Galaxy actors Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and Bradley Cooper also make brief appearances in the movie.
