As it speeds up production to deliver its first battery-powered SUVs to the United States by the end of this year, Vietnam’s VinFast is aiming to hire 8,000 additional workers for its electric vehicle plant in Vietnam, the business said.
6,000 employees are employed overall by VinFast, a division of Vingroup, the largest corporation in Vietnam.
The company announced the hiring for its factory in Haiphong, Vietnam, in a Facebook post on its verified account with the caption, “New recruitments are for VinFast’s production expansion.”
“New employees, including engineers, technicians, and assembly line workers, will begin working in August and September.”
A total of 250,000 automobiles may be produced at the Haiphong plant annually, and VinFast has stated that it plans to increase that number to 600,000 by 2026.
VinFast stated in March that it would construct a plant in North Carolina with a preliminary capacity of 150,000 electric vehicles annually. According to the business, the plant would generate 7,500 jobs.
By 2026, VinFast expects to sell 750,000 electric vehicles annually, beginning with the VF8 and VF9 all-electric SUVs it intends to start manufacturing in Vietnam for export to North America and Europe.
The company stated that it had approximately 8,000 reservations in the United States and anticipates exporting and delivering VF8 vehicles to American consumers from the Haiphong plant before the year’s end.
In response to sluggish demand, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has pulled back output at its sizable smartphone plant in Vietnam. VinFast is expanding and hiring there at the same time.
The majority of Samsung’s global output is produced in Vietnam, which is also home to the largest foreign workforce in Vietnam.
