Anne Heche organs donated after actress taken off from life support

After a suitable donor recipient was identified, US actress Anne Heche was “peacefully taken off life support,” a spokeswoman said.

The late star’s death was verified to the news agency on Sunday by a spokesperson.

The 53-year-old was officially pronounced dead on Friday after colliding with a house in LA and sustaining a “severe anoxic brain injury.”

So that her organs could potentially be donated, she had been maintained on life support.

Although the number and type of donated organs are unknown, media reported that surgeons were prepared to carry out the implants.

Heche’s representative Holly Baird said in a statement that the actress was “peacefully taken off life support” after a compatible recipient of her donated organs was identified.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) announced earlier on Sunday that they had finished looking into Heche’s crash, which had put her in a coma.

In a statement, they stated that “as of today, no further investigative efforts will be conducted in this instance.”

“Prior to this turn of events, any information or records that were requested would still be gathered when they come in as a formality and included to the overall case.

“We do not present for file consideration when a person accused of committing a crime expires [dies].”

The early blood tests revealed that Heche had narcotics in his system, and the agency previously stated that the incident was being investigated as a felony driving while intoxicated (DUI) traffic collision.

To exclude medications given in the hospital, more testing was required.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), her car “erupted in heavy fire” last week, which took 59 firefighters more than an hour to completely put out.

In addition to having burns, the actress also had “a severe anoxic brain injury,” which occurs when the brain is deprived of oxygen, according to her relatives.

She left the two-story house she collided with “uninhabitable.”

The homeowner she fatally crashed into, Lynne Mishele, expressed her grief at the actress’s passing on social media.

Mishele wrote on the internet, “The news of Anne Heche’s passing is sad.” “My heart goes out to her family, friends, and children in particular because they have truly experienced a big loss.

There just are no words to describe how sad the entire thing is, she continued. “To everyone concerned, I’m sending love.”

More than $174,000 (£146,000) has already been raised through a fund established to assist Mishele with expenses.

Heche was well-known for playing roles in movies including Volcano, Donnie Brasco, and the 1998 Psycho adaptation.

The mother of two additionally had an appearance in 2020 on Dancing with the Stars, the US version of Strictly Come Dancing.

In a statement on Friday, her family lamented the loss of “a bright light, a kind and most joyous person.”

Celebrities paying respect included actress Heche’s former partner Ellen DeGeneres and actor Antonio Banderas.
