After denouncing the attack on British novelist Salman Rushdie on Twitter, J.K. Rowling, the creator of the Harry Potter series, got a death threat. During a gathering in Western New York, Salman was stabbed by Hadi Matar, 24, a citizen of New Jersey. After publishing The Satanic Verses, he endured years of death threats from Islamists.
J K Rowling responded to the attack on Salman on Twitter after previously receiving criticism for her remarks against the trans community. “Horrifying news,” she wrote. feeling extremely ill at the moment. Just let him be. “Don’t fear you are next,” one user said.”
The author uploaded a screenshot of the user’s message on Saturday and requested Twitter to take appropriate action. Any chance of some support, she asked, tagging the Twitter support crew. Later, she acknowledged that the police were now looking into the situation.
“Thank you to everyone who sent encouraging messages. Police are involved (and have been in previous threats), “JK Rowling kept her audience informed. She also included Twitter’s response, which said “no violations of the Twitter rules in the content you reported” after she reported the comment. The Scotland police are reportedly looking into a report of an alleged “online threat” against author J.K. Rowling.
In the meantime, Warner Bros, the company behind the Harry Potter movie series, offered JK Rowling its support and strongly denounced the threats made against her in a statement to Deadline.
