Australia starts dedicated Centre for strengthening relations with India

“Today, I am pleased to announce that Ms Swati Dave has been appointed to the position of inaugural Chair of the Advisory Board to the Centre for Australia-India Relations. According to Senator Penny Wong, who serves as the minister for foreign affairs for Australia, “this year will see the Centre for Australia-India Relations opening, which will act as a national platform to deepen our connection with India further.”

Our two countries will have a better understanding of one another’s economic practices and cultural traditions thanks to the Centre. In addition, it will administer the Maitri (Friendship) Program, which provides financial assistance for academic and artistic collaborations through grants, fellowships, and scholarships.

Through her significant senior executive and non-executive director responsibilities in both the public and private sectors, Ms Dave brings a wealth of experience in business, leadership, and strategic planning to the job.

She has held top positions at National Australia Bank, as well as Deutsche Bank, AMP Henderson Global Investors, Bankers Trust, and Westpac; her most recent post is that of Managing Director and CEO of Export Finance Australia.

Ms Dave is now serving as Deputy Chair of Asia Society Australia and is also a member of National Foundation for Australia-India Advisory Board. In addition to that, she is a member of the Investment Committee for QIC Global Infrastructure.

It will be a pleasure for the country to collaborate with Ms Dave on this significant endeavour as we work toward expanding the scope of our relationship with India, which ranks among the most important of our regional partners.
