According to a paediatrician who spoke with the media, the ongoing conflict in Sudan is preventing people from getting vaccinated, which has led to an increase in the number of measles cases in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum.
Dr. Mohamed al-Taher, who is based in Khartoum, told the Sudan Lifeline programme that there is a scarcity of vaccines, which could lead to the emergence of diseases among youngsters. Dr. al-Taher was speaking to the Sudan Lifeline show.
He stated, “Despite the fact that the Ministry of Health is responsible for vaccinations, it is unable to fulfill its role in regard to the vaccination process.”
“There is a shortage in the measles vaccine, and a number of cases have already occurred among children. These cases are expected to be very severe… it will be very severe because their bodies will not be able to resist it,” according to the CDC.
It is exceedingly perilous to attempt to visit clinics in places that are densely inhabited because to the regular aircraft bombing and battles that take place in these locations.
Medecins Sans Frontières (MSF), a medical organization, has issued a warning that as a result of people fleeing their homes, there has been an increase in the number of cases of measles and malnutrition in camps in White Nile state, which is located south of the capital.
