In Russia, Kia recalls 105,000 Rio cars

A probable airbag malfunction prompted Kia Corp.’s Russian unit to initiate a voluntary recall of more than 100,000 vehicles on Monday, according to a government agency.

According to the Russian federal organization for technical regulation and metrology (Rosstandard), the Kia Rio models built between 2013 and 2018 at the Hyundai Motor Group factory in the Russian city of St. Petersburg are subject to recall.

“The SRS warning light on the instrument panel is on, which is why the vehicles are being recalled. It’s possible for the airbag module to malfunction internally “said Rosstandard in a statement.

According to Rosstandard, Kia has promised to get in touch with the owners of 105,405 cars and offer a solution to the issue.
