The National Strategy of Australia to Achieve Gender Equality is being developed by the Australian Government to support its commitment to regaining Australia’s position as a global leader in gender equality.
To make Australia one of the best nations in the world for a gender-equal society, the whole community will be guided by the National Strategy to Achieve Gender Equality. It will serve as a crucial mechanism for elevating and prioritising actions to bring gender equality.
The National Plan aims to end violence against women and children (2022–2022), the Government’s response to the Respect@Work: that is Sexual Harassment National Inquiry Report (2020), and the National Women’s Health Strategy 2020–2030 are just a few of the Australian Government’s efforts to promote gender equality that the strategy will support.
In the second half of 2023, the Office for Women will unveil the National Strategy to Achieve Gender Equality. This will give time to collaborate with stakeholders and learn about the local community’s priorities.
The Office is developing the strategy for Women with input from Australians nationwide. The consultation’s primary goal is to ensure that all relevant voices are heard.
The Australian Government established the Women’s Economic Equality Taskforce to offer impartial advice to the Government. This recommendation ensures that women are at the forefront of decisions and policy. The task force will contribute significantly to the strategy. The task force will interact with the Australian community to elevate and honour women’s voices in the process.
The 6 National Women’s Alliances will significantly influence the strategy’s development.
To ensure that diverse voices are heard and included, we will continue to speak with people throughout Australia, including women and girls.
The plan will also make use of a wide-ranging body of evidence. It will incorporate suggestions made to the Australian Government, recent consultations, and public feedback. Additionally, it will use recent studies and publications, such as those created for the Jobs and Skills Summit and its white paper.
