The 1990 emergency ambulance service has been discontinued in a number of locations because to the fuel crisis in Sri Lanka.
According to media reports, the Suwa Seriya Ambulance Service pleaded with the people to forgo using the 1990 emergency ambulance service in the impacted districts.
A complete list of the districts’ precise locations where the Suwa Seriya Ambulance Service won’t be available has been made public.
Accordingly, portions of the Batticaloa, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Puttalam, Badulla, Monaragala, Hambantota, Matara, Galle, Kalutara, Kegalla, Ratnapura, Vavuniya, and Mullaitivu Districts won’t have the 1990 Suwa Seriya Ambulance Service available.
Previously, on Sunday, a ship carrying 3,700 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas docked in Sri Lanka.
According to the Presidential Secretariat, another ship carrying 3,740 metric tonnes of gas is anticipated to dock on the island nation today.
According to the statement, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa gave the officers orders to distribute and discharge the LP gas as soon as the ship docked in Kerawalapitiya at 3 p.m.
Local media stated that a total of 33,000 metric tonnes of gas have been ordered for this month and that a third ship carrying 3,200 metric tonnes of gas will arrive on the island nation on Friday.
The statement also said that Muditha Peiris, chairman of the Litro Gas firm, had stated that the issue with residential LP gas demand will be resolved entirely by the end of this month and that the distribution of gas would begin on Tuesday in a regular and methodical manner.
Notably, Sri Lanka is currently experiencing its worst economic downturn since gaining independence in 1948, which has resulted in a severe lack of necessities like food, medication, cooking gas, and fuel throughout the island nation.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has listed Sri Lanka as one of the few countries that will likely go hungry this year due to a predicted worldwide food scarcity.
