To better equip the Australian Army, the Australian government has decided to purchase 40 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters.
According to the Head of Land Capability, Major General Jeremy King, CSM, this purchase is a significant procurement that will satisfy the strategic requirements of the Australian Army.
Major General King states, “The Black Hawk capability will be an essential component for us to safeguard Australia’s sovereignty and deliver foreign policy objectives, including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.”
“During times of crisis, the Black Hawk will assist in the deployment of our troops and the supplies that they require to the appropriate location.” The Black Hawk platform is dependable, well-established, and well-matured, and a robust worldwide supply chain supports it.
Because of this acquisition, we will be able to continue defending Australia and providing assistance when it is required in a manner that is both secure and efficient for many years to come.
The Black Hawk will operate out of Oakey, Queensland, and Holsworthy, New South Wales, with the assistance of a highly experienced, blended maintenance team that will include contractors from the Australian industry.
In addition to being a part of the aircraft’s worldwide supply chain, the Australian business sector will provide engineering services, training development, warehousing services, and logistical support.
This will not only help support the capability but will also maximize the engagement of the Australian industry, creating the groundwork for future expansion in the helicopter industry throughout the helicopter’s service life.
This year will mark the beginning of the delivery of the Black Hawk helicopters.
