Hawaii is reeling from what authorities have described as the worst flooding in more than 20 years, after relentless torrential rains battered islands including Oahu and Maui, triggering mass evacuations, widespread destruction, and large-scale rescue operations. The severe weather, driven by a Kona low pressure system, struck over the weekend, compounding the effects of earlier storms that had already saturated the ground, making conditions especially dangerous.
According to officials, hundreds of residents were forced to flee their homes, particularly in hard-hit areas such as the North Shore of Oahu, where floodwaters rose rapidly and inundated communities. Entire neighborhoods were submerged as water swept through homes, farms, and businesses, leaving behind thick layers of mud and debris.
