According to reports citing internal company presentations, Starbucks is building proprietary software capable of performing key business functions, including inventory management and equipment maintenance. These applications are expected to replace Microsoft’s inventory tracking platform and IBM’s maintenance management software if ongoing testing proves successful. Some of the internally developed tools could be introduced by the end of next year.
