The family-owned chain secured the top position for the fourth consecutive year, beating much larger competitors such as McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A, Burger King and Wendy’s. McDonald’s, one of the most recognisable breakfast brands in the US, finished fourth in this year’s readers’ choice contest, while Chick-fil-A was placed fifth. Burger King came sixth and Wendy’s seventh. The rankings were determined through public voting, with Biscuitville among 20 nominees in the fast-food breakfast category. Readers were given four weeks to cast their votes, with the winners announced on July 15.
The chain’s repeated success has been linked by the company to its focus on freshly prepared food and traditional Southern-style breakfast. Rather than relying heavily on pre-cooked or frozen products, Biscuitville says it prepares much of its food in its restaurants.
One of its biggest attractions is its signature biscuit. According to the company, biscuits are prepared from scratch every 15 minutes using a three-ingredient family recipe that has been passed down from the founder’s grandmother.
