Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have reached a divorce settlement after an eight-year legal battle, according to Jolie’s lawyer.
The couple, who married in 2014 and share six children, were once one of the entertainment industry’s most iconic duos, popularly nicknamed “Brangelina.” Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, citing “irreconcilable differences.” During subsequent legal proceedings, she accused Pitt of being abusive to her and two of their children during a private jet flight that year. Pitt has denied the allegations and was not charged following a police investigation.
While Pitt’s legal team has not commented on the settlement, the couple resolved their child custody dispute in 2021, agreeing to a joint arrangement. However, the settlement does not appear to address their ongoing legal battle over Chateau Miraval, a French vineyard they co-purchased in 2008 and where they later wed.
The dispute over the property escalated in 2022 when Pitt accused Jolie of selling her share to Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler without his consent. Jolie has not publicly responded to the lawsuit.
Jolie and Pitt’s romance began on the set of the 2005 film Mr. and Mrs. Smith, drawing intense media attention. Their marriage marked Pitt’s second, following his relationship with Friends star Jennifer Aniston, and Jolie’s third, after unions with actors Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller.

The divorce settlement brings some resolution to a highly publicized and contentious split that has spanned nearly a decade. However, the unresolved vineyard dispute underscores the lingering tensions between the former couple. Chateau Miraval, located in the South of France, was not just a shared property but a symbol of their union, with its picturesque setting serving as the venue for their 2014 wedding. The estate also became a business venture, producing a popular line of rosé wines.
Pitt has reportedly invested significant time and resources into the vineyard’s operations, making the legal battle over its ownership particularly personal. His 2022 lawsuit alleged that Jolie’s sale of her stake to Yuri Shefler violated their prior agreement to retain joint control. Jolie’s legal team has countered that she was within her rights to sell her share. The case continues to unfold, with its outcome likely to draw further public and legal scrutiny.
For Jolie and Pitt, their individual careers have remained active despite the legal turmoil.
