Anne Burgess AM has been given the position of new Chair of the Aged Care Council of Elders for two years following her recent appointment in this role.
Ms Burgess has over 40 years of experience directing social justice-oriented programs and organizations. More than 5 years have passed since she was first elected to her position on the Board of Directors for the Older Persons Advocacy Network.
“Appointment of Anne Burgess to Chair of Council of Elders was part of ongoing agenda to ensure that the needs of older people are front and center as we reform aged care,” the Minister for Aged Care, Anika Wells, said.
Throughout the entirety of the process of reform, the Council of Elders plays an essential part in ensuring that the Government considers the many opinions and viewpoints of older people.
Anne Burgess, who holds the position of Chair of the Council of Elders, stated that she is “proud to take on this roleand I am committed to working with council members as well as the Government to ensure that older people from all walks of life have their rights and dignity maintained in our future system of elderly care.
