As the commemoration of Anzac Day draws near, the militaries of Australia and New Zealand will expand upon their long tradition of working together through the implementation of Plan ANZAC.
The bilateral agreement aims to strengthen the capacity to operate jointly by providing a framework for engagement. This will allow the two armies to communicate with one another and share their perspectives, as well as their situational awareness, capabilities, and level of preparedness.
“Plan ANZAC builds on our crucial history of partnership by strengthening our Army-to-Army relationships, enhancing interoperability, capacity, and the ability to support combat operations jointly as well as capabilities to meet today’s challenges,” Lieutenant General Stuart said.
Because of this relationship, both forces will be better equipped to work together to support missions, including the maintenance of security and stability, as well as humanitarian aid and disaster relief operations.
Our armed forces have great tradition of operational service, organizational collaboration, regional partnership, and camaraderie amongst their ranks. Together, we have been of benefit to our country, we have supported global peace, and we have maintained regional stability for more than a century. “That is what we wish to continue to do,” Major General Boswell stated.
“Plan ANZAC will reflect a broader defence relationship, one that is open, one that is based on mutual respect, and one that is enduring”
