The Australian Defense Force (ADF) personnel will take part in significant ceremonial tasks for the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and The Queen Consort, which will occur in London on May 6.
A total of 40 service members from all branches, including Australia’s Federation Guard, will go to the United Kingdom for the occasion. Among their responsibilities, they will participate in The Coronation Procession for Their Majesties during the ceremony.
The defence will assist in commemorative activities in Australia, including a National 21 Gun Salute on the front lawn of Parliament House and a flypast by the Royal Australian Air Force.
The approximately 40 members of the ADF contingent from the Australian Federation Guard will participate in the marching parade from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace and ceremonial responsibilities at the Coronation in London. ADF members will march alongside the Commonwealth, Realm, and United Kingdom delegates.
The Australian Defense Force will conduct a National 21 Gun Salute from the Australian Parliament House’s courtyard on Sunday, May 7, at 3 p.m. If the weather permits, the Royal Australian Air Force will fly over the country’s capital. In due future, more information about the flypast will be made public.
Numerous major structures and monuments in Australia will be lit up in royal purple on May 6 and 7 to commemorate the Coronation. After dusk, Defense will turn the Russell Offices Royal Purple to join the illuminations.
States and territories are free to host their own Coronation ceremonies. State and municipal requests for assistance from the Defense are dependent on operational commitments.
“The Coronation of The King as well as The Queen Consort signifies the unwavering obligation of Their Majesties to the Commonwealth, dedicating their lives to serving the nation,” said deputy prime minister the Hon. Richard Marles MP.
The awarding of the Crown and the assumption of regal authority symbolizes Their Majesties’ commitment to a life of unwavering devotion, service, and sacrifice. The Australian Defense Force’s attendance at the Coronation shows its steadfast dedication to the Crown, the Government, and the country, in keeping with The King and The Queen Consort’s continuous devotion to the Commonwealth.
