BMW created controversy by charging £15 per month for an internet subscription that enabled heated front seats in its vehicles in the UK.
£10 is the cost of a heated steering wheel membership each month.
In the UK, BMW car features have been available as subscriptions for some time, but the heated seat offer just launched.
Customers can choose to pay a one-time fee to enable all hardware functions, according to the business.
The features can be purchased via BMW’s ConnectedDrive online shop and are remotely activated so a dealer visit is not necessary.
The heated seat promotion is accessible in the UK, although the available subscriptions differ by nation.
When a buyer orders a vehicle with heated seats or any other item from the ConnectedDrive shop, the manufacturer told the media that “no further subscription or payment is required.”
However, the business claims that having the option to add new features can be useful for owners who decide to alter their minds after making a purchase.
And second-hand car owners will especially benefit from it, according to BMW, “since they now have the possibility to add equipment the original owner did not choose.”
Drivers may “experiment with a feature by purchasing a short-term trial before committing to a purchase” thanks to subscriptions, the business claimed.
However, a feature can be purchased with limitless usage.
A warm steering wheel is available for £200 for “as long as the technical requirements are met for this car,” according to the manufacturer.
