Amir Khan, a British boxer, has revealed that he was robbed at gunpoint in London, but that neither he nor his wife were hurt as a result of the crime.
“Just had my watch taken off me at gunpoint in East London, Leyton,” Khan posted on Twitter. “Just had my watch snatched off me at gunpoint in East London, Leyton.”
“I was fortunate in that Faryal (Makhdoom) was only a few feet behind me as I crossed the road. Two individuals came up to me and one of them demanded for my watch as a rifle was aimed in my direction. The most important thing is that we are both secure.”
A crushing defeat to Kell Brook in February forced the 35-year-old to declare retirement, saying it was “something to think about.” He previously won lightweight silver at the Athens Olympics in 2004 and was a former unified light-welterweight champion.
