As part of the celebration of Australia Day, the Australian Defense Force put on a series of magnificent displays in and around Sydney Harbour.
During the Salute to Australia, which took place at Sydney Cove, the destroyer HMAS Sydney served as the event’s centerpiece. Additionally, the 9th Regiment of the Australian Army fired a 21-gun salute.
After the final note of the national anthem, everyone turned their attention to the sky to watch an F-35A Lightning II aircraft from the Air Force do a handling demonstration.
An Australian flag was slung beneath the belly of a Navy MH-60R Seahawk helicopter as it flew over the harbor and along the beaches that are located to the north and south of the city.
Rear Admiral Christopher Smith, Commander of the Australian Fleet, attended the Salute to Australia and spoke on behalf of the Royal Australian Navy. He stated that the Department of Defense was proud to support this time-honored tradition.
“In the daily lives of all Australians, the Australian Defense Force is an institution that plays a significant part.” According to Rear Admiral Smith, our armed forces, including our ships, aircraft, and troops, “assist to define the strategic environment and sustain a rules-based order.”
“We are happy to join the community on Australia Day and to demonstrate some of our capacity and people,” the company said.
The day was brought to a close when the Army’s Red Beret parachute team and the Air Force’s formation aerobatic display team, the Roulettes, provided demonstrations over the Sydney Opera House while the community below enjoyed the Australia Day Live performance.
