According to reports in the media on Wednesday, billionaire Elon Musk communicated to Twitter employees that after he takes control of the company, he does not want to make layoffs that affect 75 percent of the workforce. In an address to employees at the company’s location in San Francisco, Musk allegedly refuted rumors of the amount of positions that were eliminated.
However, Musk is still planning to lay off some employees as part of the takeover, which is leading them to experience concern.
On Wednesday, Musk traveled to Twitter’s headquarters in an effort to solidify his position as the company’s future leader. He posted a tweet that read, “Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in!” while carrying a porcelain sink.
In addition to this, he gave the impression that he was the most powerful person in the organization by changing the title of his bio to “Chief Twit.”
Musk said that he was mislead by Twitter on the number of bot accounts that are active on its site, which resulted in him pulling the plug on the purchase deal in July and engaging in a heated legal battle with Twitter ever since. In a letter that he sent to Twitter, Elon Musk stated that the social media company had “not met with its contractual responsibilities to disclose information regarding how to assess how common the bots are on the social media service.” Musk made this statement in the letter.
On October 17, it was anticipated that Elon Musk and Twitter would engage in a face-off at the Court of Chancery in the state of Delaware. During this meeting, Twitter was planning to seek an order directing Elon Musk to conclude the acquisition for $44 billion.
However, earlier this month, Musk made a proposal to move forward with his first offer of $44 billion while simultaneously demanding that Twitter halt their legal action.
