It hasn’t been a month since OnePlus unveiled its all-new flagship lineup, and there have been three software updates in OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. These updates brought many improvements and optimization for the systems, connective, cameras, and the latest Android security patches. But there is one issue that needs to be addressed. OnePlus 9 Pro suffers from an overheating problem that temporarily makes the phone useless. The issue mainly occurs when photos and videos are taken. But, as per the complaint raised by users on the OnePlus Community form, this problem can happen while doing other tasks.

The high power consumption function of the OnePlus 9 Pro is automatically disabled when it overheats. If the camera is used, then this message is shown “The temperature of your device is currently too high, please pause shooting [sic] for a while to bring it down,” and “Unable to take pictures as the phone’s temperature is too high.” An Android System notification can also appear along with this message.
As per a user update, while trying to take pictures in sunlight, the phone started showing the overheating warning. The weather was said to be 21-degree. Some users have complained of overheating during a 4K120fps recording inside a 22-degree temperature room. Most of the overheating issues are reported to be related to direct sunlight.
The overheating issues seem to be software-related because the mentioned notifications pop up at relatively low temperatures. Artem from Android Police says that recording a video at ambient temperatures as low as 70°F can cause an overheat warning. The other phones used in such temperature no such problem being faced.
Till now, the exact reason for the overheating issue is not known. But as per reports, the reasons can be a problem with the temperature sensor or things like high background app usage. As per sources, OnePlus is working on this issue to fix it. The issue will be addressed via software updates and will reach users in another few weeks as per the company’s spokesperson update.
