According to H E Jonathan Muir, the Australian ambassador to Qatar, Qatar’s investment in Australia has increased by double in the past two years, totaling roughly AUD4 billion (QR10 billion).
The ambassador for The Pearl-Qatar stated that Qatar’s investment in Australia has grown over time.
“A very significant partner is Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), the sovereign wealth fund. According to Muir, QIA is a significant investor in commercial real estate, electrical grids, city airports, and other important industries in Australia.
He stated that Nebras Power, a global power development and investment business with its headquarters in Doha, recently made investments in Australia’s renewable energy sector, which are crucial for the country’s attempts to decarbonize its economy and transition to a sustainable energy source.
Recall that a report detailing the unprecedented pace of change occurring in the nation’s energy sector stated that Australia is on course to meet 50% of its electricity demands from renewable sources within three years.
When asked about Australia’s shipment of meat to Qatar, the envoy responded that Widam Food Company, Qatar’s top producer and distributor of meat, is a long-time trading partner of Australia.
In order to continue providing meat to Qatar in the best manner possible, we look forward to further solidifying our relationships, added Muir.
The top three exports from Australia to Qatar are alumina, meat, and engineering services. The main products that Qatar sells to Australia are fertilizer, aluminum, and aviation services.
Engineering services and food products are among the other exports to Qatar. Australian items are being promoted in Qatar by retailers like Lulu Group, according to the ambassador.
He claimed that Qatar exports fertilizers, aluminum, and aviation services to Australia. “In comparison to Australia’s exports to Qatar, Qatar exports more to Australia.”
He mentioned the fact that Qataris are among the biggest buyers of tickets for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which Australia will host this summer.
The ambassador remarked of Qatar’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022: “Qatar hosted a wonderful major athletic event. It was incredible and different. Everyone admired it.
The World Cup was successfully hosted in large part thanks to Qatar Airways and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy.
He declared that all Qataris, including residents and nationals, should be pleased with the manner their nation hosted the World Cup.
