According to an internal email reviewed by media, Tesla (TSLA.O) CEO Elon Musk said he had a “very awful feeling” about the economy and that the electric automaker needs to slash workers by approximately 10%.
On Thursday, Tesla executives received an email with the subject line “stop all recruiting worldwide.”
Tesla did not respond to a request for comment right away.
“Everyone at Tesla is obligated to spend at least 40 hours in the office each week,” Musk said in another email to staff on Tuesday night.
“We’ll think you’ve quit if you don’t show up.”
Tesla Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk has asked employees to return to work or leave the company, according to an email acquired by the media.
“The more senior you are, the more clear your presence must be,” Musk wrote. “That’s why I stayed at the plant for so long, so the folks on the line could see me working alongside them.” If I hadn’t done it, Tesla would have gone bankrupt long ago.”
