For the first time, the Isle of Man will be part of a major beach cleaning initiative this weekend.
The Big Channel Islands Beach Clean, which has been held in Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, and Sark for the past six years, is expanding in its seventh year to include the Isle of Man.
Volunteers across the British Crown Dependencies are being urged to contribute to the fight against pollution.
Bill Dale, founder of the Isle of Man-based Beach Buddies, emphasized that island communities are particularly aware of the challenges posed by beach pollution since they face them daily.
He expressed hope that the event would strengthen ties between the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, noting, “We are all in this together, facing similar challenges. It’s a shared responsibility.”
Mr. Dale anticipates a strong turnout, with hundreds expected to participate.
Volunteers are encouraged to choose their preferred local beach, inform organizers of their location, report the number of participants, and record the amount of waste collected.
