The world-renowned electronic dance music festival Tomorrowland is set to expand into Asia for the first time, with Thailand confirmed as the host of its inaugural full-scale edition on the continent later this year. The iconic festival, known for its elaborate stage designs and globally recognised line-ups, will take place from December 11 to 13 in the coastal city of Pattaya, marking a major milestone for both the organisers and Thailand’s live entertainment industry.
Announcing the development on Tuesday, Tomorrowland said Thailand was selected due to its rising prominence in global music, creativity and experience-based tourism. The festival’s organisers expect more than 50,000 people to attend each day, bringing tens of thousands of international and domestic visitors to the region during the three-day event.
Founded two decades ago by Belgian brothers Manu and Michiel Beers, Tomorrowland has grown into one of the most influential electronic music festivals in the world. Its flagship annual edition in Belgium attracts fans from across continents and is widely celebrated for its immersive storytelling themes, cutting-edge production and high-profile DJs. While the Tomorrowland brand has previously hosted smaller events and collaborations in parts of Asia, this will be the first time it stages a complete festival on a scale comparable to its European edition.
Ticket pre-registration for the Thailand edition will open on January 8. Organisers have announced that a three-day “full madness pass” will be priced at 12,500 baht, while single-day tickets will cost 5,100 baht. Further details regarding the festival’s theme, stage concepts and artist line-up are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
According to Thai media reports, the Thai government has finalised a five-year agreement with Tomorrowland to host the festival in the country. Authorities estimate that the event could generate economic activity worth approximately 21 billion baht over the duration of the agreement, driven by tourism, hospitality, transport and associated services. The deal aligns with Thailand’s broader strategy to position itself as a regional hub for global events and creative industries.
Tomorrowland chief executive officer Bruno Vanwelsenaers described the Asia expansion as a significant step for the festival. He said taking Tomorrowland to a new continent was both an honour and an exciting challenge, adding that the Thailand edition marked the beginning of a long-term vision rather than a one-off event.
Thailand’s selection reflects its growing reputation on the international live music circuit. In recent years, the country has hosted several major global music festivals, including Electric Daisy Carnival and Creamfields, drawing large crowds and international attention. Bangkok has also become a regular stop for global concert tours, including K-pop supergroup Blackpink’s world tour last year.
In addition to international acts, Thailand’s own festival culture has been gaining momentum. Events such as Wonderfruit, a homegrown music and arts festival, have emerged as prominent attractions, drawing tens of thousands of attendees annually and earning recognition for their focus on creativity, sustainability and cultural exchange.
With Tomorrowland’s arrival, Thailand is poised to further strengthen its position as a leading destination for large-scale music festivals in Asia, while fans across the region prepare for what is expected to be one of the most anticipated EDM events of the year.
