As of this coming Saturday, in order to comply with COVID-19 measures, Shanghai Disneyland will operate at a reduced capacity, the resort announced in a statement. This is yet another indication that China is tightening restrictions across the country in an effort to contain the spread of coronavirus infections.
According to the amusement park’s official Wechat account, the park will temporarily operate with a smaller workforce, which will have an effect on the way that various attractions, restaurants, and shops are run.
On Saturday, China reported for the fifth consecutive day that there were more than 1,000 new COVID cases across the country. While this is a relatively low number compared to the tens of thousands of cases per day that prompted Shanghai to go into full-blown lockdown mode earlier this year, it is still sufficient to prompt additional curbs and restrictions across the country.
On Wednesday, the Universal Resort theme park in Beijing was closed because at least one guest had tested positive for the coronavirus.
