The Games of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon at home has unveiled its first official images. Before the event of Games of Thrones, House of the Dragon is set a few hundred years. It tells the story of the Targaryen civil war and House Targaryen that became known as the Dance of the Dragons. The cast includes Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Rhys Ifans, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel, Paddy Considine, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint.
The photos feature Ifans as Otto Hightower, D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, and Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen. HBO has given it 10 episode order with an eye toward a 2022 debut. On April 26, the start of production was announced. It is based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood.
Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik will serve as co-showrunners and serve as executive producers and Vince Gerardis and Martin. Martin and Condal will also serve as executive producer and writer. Sapochnik will direct the plot and the additional episodes. Geeta V. Patel and Clare Kilner will also direct, with Greg Yaitanes directing and co-executive producing.
According to recent updates that there are currently multiple shows set within the Game of Thrones universe in the works at HBO and HBO Max. Among them is a series of adaptations of Martin’s novellas Tales of Dunk and Eggs. On all of the shows, Martin is an executive producer. Many plot elements are not revealed; it is known that the series will look at the building of King’s Landing, alongside telling the tale of the Targaryens and the origins of some of the other main Westeros houses.
Game of Thrones ended in 2019. The last and the final season wasn’t well-received by the audience. The HBO show concluded the long-running drama and featured a few goof-ups. It had eight episodes. The last and the final season was also criticized for three episodes wrapping up the long-awaited battle with the White Walkers.
