Samsung has unveiled a new generation of artificial intelligence-powered smart glasses, marking a major step in the evolution of wearable technology by introducing features aimed at improving workplace productivity, communication and everyday convenience. Developed in collaboration with Google and premium eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, the upcoming device combines advanced AI capabilities with a lightweight design that closely resembles conventional spectacles, making it suitable for daily use.
The smart glasses are equipped with an eye-level camera that can analyse what the wearer is looking at in real time. One of the standout features allows users to point the glasses at a whiteboard, presentation screen or meeting notes, enabling the AI to capture the information, organise it into structured notes and generate concise summaries. This functionality is designed to help professionals and students review important discussions without manually taking notes during meetings or lectures.
Beyond note-taking, the AI-powered wearable offers a range of productivity tools. It can summarise lengthy text messages, read important notifications aloud, provide live language translation and deliver contextual assistance based on what the wearer is seeing. The system also supports navigation by providing turn-by-turn directions and location-based guidance while allowing users to interact through voice commands and simple gestures, reducing the need to constantly check a smartphone.
Samsung said the glasses are deeply integrated with its Galaxy ecosystem and are powered by Google’s Android XR platform. Users will be able to choose between Google Gemini and Samsung’s Bixby as their AI assistant. By understanding the user’s surroundings and previous interactions, the device can provide follow-up suggestions, retrieve relevant information and help users continue tasks without repeating instructions, making interactions with the AI more natural and efficient.
The wearable also incorporates several hardware enhancements despite maintaining a discreet appearance. Hidden speakers and microphones are built into the frame, allowing users to receive audio responses, make calls and interact with AI hands-free. The glasses are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor and are expected to deliver up to nine hours of battery life on a single charge. The accompanying charging case can provide as many as seven additional full charges, enabling extended use throughout the day.
Addressing privacy concerns often associated with smart glasses, Samsung has included a visible LED indicator that lights up whenever the camera is recording. The company has also introduced a safety mechanism that automatically disables recording if the system detects that the LED has been blocked or if the glasses are no longer being worn. The move is intended to reassure users and bystanders amid growing concerns over covert recording by wearable devices.
The company showcased multiple frame designs during its latest Galaxy Unpacked event, emphasising that the product has been created to blend fashionable aesthetics with advanced technology. While Samsung has not yet disclosed pricing or an exact launch date, the company has described the glasses as a premium offering. Initial availability is expected in select markets, including the United States and South Korea, before expanding to additional regions.
Industry experts believe Samsung’s latest wearable signals an intensifying race among global technology companies to make AI assistants more accessible through everyday devices. By bringing features such as real-time translation, intelligent note-taking, message summarisation and contextual visual understanding into a compact pair of glasses, Samsung aims to transform how users interact with digital information while keeping their hands free and their attention focused on the world around them.
