Due to airport delays and other constraints, low-cost carrier easyJet will cancel more than 200 flights over the next ten days, affecting travel over the school holidays.
Since the elimination of COVID limits resulted in an increase in travel, easyJet has faced a slew of issues, with several British airports having to find enough ground workers and easyJet dealing with IT issues.
It stated in a statement on Saturday that between May 28 and June 6, it will cancel about 24 flights per day from London’s Gatwick Airport. Due to an IT issue, it was forced to cancel around 200 flights on Thursday.
“We apologize for the late notification of some of these cancellations and the inconvenience this has caused for customers who have booked on these flights,” it stated. “However, we think this is vital to ensure dependable services during this busy season.”
“Starting today, customers will be notified and given the option to rebook their ticket or obtain a refund, as well as request for compensation in accordance with legislation.”
